TOP EPL PLAYERS 2017

DAVID DEGEA

There are a handful of truly excellent goalkeepers in the Premier League, but David De Gea is the best of the bunch. He's a magnificent shot stopper, is confident coming off his line and organizes his defense as well as possible. The only reason De Gea's season could be construed as unimpressive is because we've come to expect such dependably good goalkeeping from him.

DAVID LUIZ

If it weren't for N'Golo Kante, we might be calling Luiz the Premier League's best signing of the summer. Chelsea brought the Brazilian back to the club and he immediately transformed the defense. He's cut down on the mistakes -- which were always overstated to begin with -- and is now a simply dominant defender.

MARCOS ALONSO

If you were picking this team early in 2017, Danny Rose would be here. The Spurs player was absolutely sublime, but a knee injury ruled him out for the final few months of the season and he only played 19 matches in the league as a result. That opens the door for Alonso, who was an overlooked signing by Chelsea in the summer. The switch to a three-man backline gave Alonso a clear spot in the team and he ran with it

PAUL POGBA

It's easy to call Pogba's season a disappointment. After all, he was the most expensive transfer ever, then wasn't the best player (or close to it) in the Premier League as Manchester United finished sixth. But put the price tag aside and you see a player who held together a Red Devils midfield that was disastrous without him. His ability to do it all made Manchester United function, as he won the ball back, made plays in transition and hit some breathtaking passes that would have resulted in more assists had his teammates finished better.

EDEN HAZARD

Hazard went from the best player in the league two years ago to a shell of himself last season. The arrival of Antonio Conte and the freedom given to him sparked Hazard this season, though. He was once again a constant danger on the ball, making runs to free up his teammates without it. His 16 goals and five assists are impressive, and only highlight some of his brilliance this season.

HARRY KANE

The Premier League's Gold Boot winner for the second consecutive season managed to outstrip the rest of England despite missing three months due to injury. His 29 goals paced the league as staked his claim to the title of the Premier League's best striker. He's no one, or even two-year wonder. Kane is the best ball striker around, and the league's top scorer again.
